在广告人必争之地的美国春晚——超级碗比赛上,爱在营销上搞怪的彩虹糖,今年没有花500万美元去买广告位。

而是!在比赛当天,在纽约百老汇演出了一场音乐剧,堂而皇之向观众收起了门票钱(20-200美元不等),并且在剧里,公然怼起了广告……

It ruins the web and it ruins TV
广告毁了网络,又毁了电视
And it fills our inboxes with spam   
把我们的收件箱塞满垃圾邮件
And there’s nothing we hate more than each tiny paid for targeted ad served up on Instagram

作为广告公司的大金主,瞎说这种大实话,是想自绝于广告界吗……

那么,这场奇特的百老汇音乐剧营销,到底是怎么回事?

这部舞台剧由DDB和剧作家Will Eno共同创作,后者的戏剧《Thom Pain》曾入围普利策戏剧奖决赛。

音乐剧的男主角是Michael C. Hall,曾主演长达八季的美剧《喋血法医》(Dexter) ,也有着丰富的百老汇音乐剧演出经历-《摇滚芭比》(Hedwig)、“Cabaret”、《芝加哥》(Chicago)、“Lazarus” (拉撒路)等等。

冷酷无情的连环杀手扮演者,欢乐逗趣的舞台剧主角,真是鲜明反差萌~

作为一位百老汇音乐剧明星,去主演这支音乐剧不像音乐剧,广告也不像广告的广告音乐剧,其实Michael的心理压力也是很大的。在彩虹糖推出的宣传片里,他还为此去看了心理医生。

Ari Weiss是DDB北美的首席创意官,也是这次演出的制作人。他说,这次百老汇演出真正想要探寻的是商业行为在美国人生活中的角色,以及娱乐和市场营销之间的模糊界限在哪里。

“还有什么比超级碗这种年度最大的营销盛事更合适的时机呢?选择百老汇音乐剧来做尝试,因为我们想用一种真正有趣的方式去看一看商业行为,市场营销,还有娱乐,什么是广告,什么不是广告,看一看他们之间的交集在哪里。”

Michael在音乐剧中的打扮是一只猫~

一个脑洞清奇的创意,一位家喻户晓的明星,一支强大的演出团队,有且仅有一次的现场演出,只有1500位观众能有幸看到!

舆论又一次被彩虹糖疯狂点燃。彩虹糖没有花费500万美金购买广告位,却达到了有过之而无不及的宣传效果。

The live play starred Michael C. Hall and was arguably this year's best use of celebrity talent. The soundtrack, available on Spotify, is worth a listen and includes four minutes of Hall munching on the candies. We're hoping Skittles takes this one on the road.
