每年 10 月是美国的反欺凌月,一直致力于反欺凌运动的社会活动家莫妮卡·莱文斯基(Monica Lewinsky)在今年 10 月推出了「The Epidemic」广告片,聚焦校园青年网络暴力,用互动视频的方式,让人们真切感受到当网络暴力发生在自己身上时的压抑和绝望。

The Epidemic

「The Epidemic」视频分为两部分,第一部分讲述了一名叫 Haily 的普通美国女孩被一种神秘疾病折磨直至自杀的过程,第二部分则为我们揭开这神秘疾病的谜底,原来之所以 Haily 在每次看完手机之后身体不适,就是因为她在一次又一次地遭受网络暴力。

视频一开始就是 Haily 被推进抢救室的画面,她患了什么病观众其实并不知道。在日常生活中,“患病”的 Haily 刚开始时会耳鸣恍惚,随着时间流逝,她甚至开始食欲不振,焦虑失眠,恶心呕吐……而这些症状都发生在她每次看完手机之后。

视频播放完毕,影片会提示片中故事并不是像观众看到的那样,观众输入自己的手机号码之后再次观看,就可以获得更多信息。再次观看后观众就会发现 Hailey 不断“生病”的原因:她每次看手机,其实是收到来自同学的网络暴力信息。揭秘视频播放的同时,活动方则向观众输入的手机号发送网络暴力信息,通过这种方式让大众更好地理解网络暴力对受害者的杀伤力。(以下是演示视频,体验完整案例可前往网站 the-epidemic.com

视频最后指出:一些疾病(网络暴力)很难被看见,但网络暴力确确实实会给现实生活带来影响。观众收到的网络暴力内容,全部来自于网络空间中真实用户的评论。

根据美国疾病控制与预防中心(CDC)的研究:被网络暴力容易引起失眠、焦虑、抑郁、头痛、胃痛等风险。由于这种欺凌会导致其他疾病,所以它本身就是一种疾病。皮尤研究中心(Pew Research Center)发现,有 59% 的美国青少年在网上遭到了欺凌或骚扰。联合国儿童基金会报告显示:在 30 个国家中,有三分之一的年轻人是网络欺凌的受害者,而五分之一的人则表示,他们为了避免网上骚扰和暴力行为而逃课。

今年的反欺凌月广告「The Epidemic」是 BBDO 纽约和莫妮卡·莱温斯基的第三次合作,每次合作反网络暴力广告针对的群体都不一样,这次是聚焦于校园青年群体,而 2017 年的反网络暴力广告 In Real Life #BeStrong 是聚焦于部分社会群体,2018 年的 #DefyTheName 则是聚焦于明星名人群体,它们也都在每年反欺凌月 10 月推出。
